Sharon Jewell has been a practicing artist for twenty five years, although, as with most artists, the formality of art school merely consolidated a life-long involvement with creative endeavour. Sharon has exhibited her work continuously since 1988. Highlights of Sharon’s art working life have included Australia Council overseas studio residencies in 1994, when she was based in Northern Italy, and 2011, where the residency took her into the heart of a Northern Winter, in Helsinki, Finland. Sharon’s involvement with art and the environment began in 1999 and again in 2000 when she participated in Art and Nature Symposia, in South Korea and Japan. Currently completing a PHD she now resides on Russell Island in Southern Moreton Bay. She has been a regular artist in residence at Lines in the Sand Arts Festival.
